As soon as I arrived in Jiufen, the first place I headed to was A-Gann-Yi Taro Balls, of course.

Even on a weekday, there were about 10 people in line, but I just couldn’t miss out on their super chewy taro shaved ice.

I grabbed the cool shaved ice topped with warm taro paste and headed deep inside the shop.

I was a little bummed that the window seats were full, but the mildly sweet, retro Taiwanese dessert flavor was still absolutely perfect.

The serving size was quite generous for one person, and I ended up leaving a bit, but it would be the ideal amount to share happily between two people 🙂

I picked up my luggage from the restaurant where I had left it earlier and headed toward my accommodation, ‘Jujiuyu’.

Carrying that heavy suitcase up the narrow stairs to the 3rd floor for check-in made me sweat buckets; it was truly exhausting.

Once I entered the room, the air conditioner and dehumidifier were running full blast, making the space instantly comfortable, which was a huge relief considering Taiwan’s humid weather.

There was a small, funny incident where the light switch was painted the same color as the wallpaper, so I spent a while searching for it!

Thanks to the spacious bathroom and perfect cooling system, once I unpacked, my 1 Night 2 Days in Jiufen, Taiwan’s Spirited Away Town stay finally started to feel real 🙂

I went up to the shared terrace on the 4th floor of the guesthouse, and the winding roads of Jiufen and the sea spread out before my eyes.

As the sun began to set, the air in Jiufen cooled down a bit, so I took a light stroll to the ‘Shancheng Guanjingtai’ viewpoint.

Elderly locals were gathered at the observation deck, chatting peacefully, and their tranquil scene was truly wonderful to see.

Just as the golden sunset bathed the entire village, the iconic red lanterns of Jiufen began to light up one by one.

The village, transitioning from daytime chaos to a dreamy, ethereal atmosphere, genuinely looked like a scene straight out of ‘Spirited Away’ 🙂

The Best Spot for Night Photography in Jiufen

Skyline Tea House (Haeyolru Chabang)

I headed to the Skyline Tea House, right across the street, to capture the night view of ‘Amei Tea House’—the part of the 1 Night 2 Days in Jiufen, Taiwan’s Spirited Away Town experience I was most looking forward to.

Although I visited alone, I had to pay the minimum charge for two people, and a carefully prepared tea setting with snacks was brought out.

Sitting on the terrace, sipping tea and watching the cascading wave of red lanterns was more magnificent and mysterious than I had even imagined.

Here’s a tip: the dedicated photo area near the cashier takes much better pictures than the actual indoor seating area.

I was disappointed that tripod use was restricted, but the lighting was so excellent that I could easily capture the beautiful night view just by holding my camera steady 🙂

The Peaceful Morning of Jiufen

The next morning at 6 AM, I woke up to the sound of cats outside the window.

Under a sky that was incomparably clearer and more transparent than yesterday, the morning in Jiufen was truly pristine and silent.

I took my time strolling down the Shuqi stairs, which were completely empty of people, and captured photos of ‘Amei Tea House’ in the morning light that I couldn’t get the day before.

Watching the garbage truck drive through the village playing cheerful music signaled that Jiufen’s day was just beginning.

While the 1 Night 2 Days in Jiufen, Taiwan’s Spirited Away Town journey might feel short, experiencing both the bustling night and the serene morning made it an incredibly valuable trip 🙂
